Eryn Vercammen
(band leader, flute, uke, percussion)
is a conductor, composer, arranger, director, musical director & multi-instrumentalist.
Her directing credits include: Oliver! (PAMTA Nomination), Thoroughly Modern Millie, Annie (OTAS Award for Best Musical Direction) – (Lakewood Theatre) - Pirates of Penzance (Clark College, WA & Young Peoples Theatre Project) – If (Oregon Children’s Theatre) – The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Bugsy Malone, Fiddler on the Roof, The Music Man, Wipeout, The Wizard of Oz.
She has performed in pit orchestras for most theaters in the area including Portland Center Stage, Broadway Rose, Lakewood Theatre, Triangle Productions, Oregon Cabaret Theatre, Artist’s Repertory Theatre, Live on Stage, Stumptown Stages, Do Jump, JANE a theatre company as well as many area schools.
She performs regularly with the Bilge Rats & Pyrettes and can be heard on their upcoming CD due out this fall and can also be heard on the CD ‘Portland Sings for Haiti’ available on CD Baby.
As a conductor, her award winning bands have been recognized throughout Oregon and Washington. She has also conducted ensembles for the Chamber Music Society of Oregon and Ethos Portland.
Carrie Baldwin-Sayre
(vocal) has been singing for as long as she can remember - first in choirs, then musical theater, now these great vintage tunes with the Lava Lounge Orchestra. Carrie is also a great lover of early 20th century swing jazz and django, and enjoys singing those tunes with The Jenny Finn Orchestra. Her many influences include Kay Starr, Ella Fitzgerald, The Boswell Sisters, Rosemary Clooney, Doris Day, Ella Mae Morse, Julie London, and the Andrews Sisters. She even had the great fortune to portray Maxene Andrews in Sisters of Swing - The Story of the Andrews Sisters at Broadway Rose Theater. By day she is a physician, and has a private practice in naturopathic primary care.
Fletcher Németh
(bass) - B.Mus., Portland State University. Studied with Dave Anderson, Larry Zgonc, Ken Baldwin, and Jeff Johnson. Currently maintains a private studio in addition to being on faculty at the Community Music Center in Portland, OR. Former member and section principal of Metropolitan Youth Symphony, Portland Youth Philharmonic, PSU's Symphony and New Music Ensemble. Has appeared onstage with 3 Leg Torso, Pink Martini (playing banjo!) and the Oregon Symphony, and under the stage for musicals produced by Oregon Children's Theater, Lakewood Theater Company and Broadway Rose. Active in the new music/avant-garde scene through collaborations with local composers and improvisers. You can also see him with his rock band Rainbow Jive Hammer and the folk-fusion band Kendálin.
Bob Shotola
(drums & percussion) is a longtime Portland area theater drummer. He teaches elementary school and likes Mexican food.
Gary Irvine
(vibes/percussion) received a B.A. In Music at San Diego State University. While there, he was introduced to the instruments of Harry Partch and spent the next 18 years as a member of the Harry Partch Ensemble. After college, Gary played drum set in a variety of jazz, rock, big band, and show bands. He played concert percussion with the San Diego Symphonia, Star Light Opera and the La Jolla Chamber Orchestra.
In the 1980s, Gary worked in Los Angeles as a recording musician. He recorded national commercials (Shell Oil, IBM. Turtle Wax, Polaroid) and movies (Brainstorm, The Lion of the Desert, The Black Cauldron, and Never Cry Wolf). He wrote music and designed sound for local L.A. Theaters.
He won the 1983 Drama Logue Award for Original Music and Sound Design for the play, Don Juan Comes Home from the War. He was also a band member for the Drammy award winning musicals No Way To Treat A Lady (2008), Into the Woods (2009), (both for Best Musical Direction) and the Portland Music Award for best world music band 2008 and 2009 and best album 2011 (3 Leg Torso).
Gary has been playing jazz, world, classical and shows in the Portland area since 1991.
Hunter Petty
(violin, percussion) is a professional violin & violist in Portland, OR. She plays in many different genre's - classical, folk, jazz and musical theater.
She currently plays viola with the Newport Symphony Orchestra. Other classical credits include: Oregon Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, Jewish Community Orchestra, Willamette Falls Symphony, Rose City Chamber Orchestra, Jordan Symphony Orchestra, Granite Youth Symphony, and The Alma Quartet.
Hunter has performed in pit orchestras for many theaters in the area including Portland Center Stage, Broadway Rose, Lakewood Theatre, JANE a theater company and many area schools.
She performs with the "BilgeRats & Pyrettes", a pirate band, at many surrounding bars, clubs, events and festivals. She is featured on their new CD "The Pyrettes" which you can purchase through CD Baby or the Bilgerats & Pyrettes facebook page. Hunter also performs with the "American Metropole Orchestra" based out of Monmouth, OR. During her time with AMO, she has played with greats such as Sonny Turner, Lynn Anderson & up and coming jazz artist Lizz Wright.
Becca Schultz
(piano) is a professional pianist, composer and visual artist based in Portland, OR. She recently graduated summa cum laude from Portland State University with a B.Mus. in Jazz Studies. In addition to performing in jazz, classical and contemporary piano styles, Becca also enjoys playing progressive rock, electronic and folk music. Becca is a piano, voice and composition instructor at several local music academies and also does freelance composing, arranging, and recording in the Portland area.
